Theoretical bases
“Consciousness matters”. It has been affirmed by philosophers and religious leaders, and most recently, even proved by scientists and theorists of noetics.
Buddha said we make the Universe with our minds, therefore explaining that our thoughts shape and mould, not only our subjective perception, but the very physical fabric of reality.
Many theories have been weaved throughout history, in several different cultures, about the use of art as an intentional expression of desires and wishes with the purpose of facilitating their achievement.
Even beyond the deepest of skepticisms, the effect a work of art causes upon the one who perceives it becomes absolutely undeniable. Music, literature, as every single form of art expression make an impression directly upon the mind, both of the receptor and the artist who creates it, altering and sculpting thoughts and emotions, which will later translate into actions and attitudes.
Both the message and the effect share the same quality and nature; therefore peacefulness and harmony will create identical sensations, producing and increasing joy and wellbeing.
Postulates and purposes
According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, solace is a “feeling of emotional comfort when you are sad or disappointed”; and “a person or thing that makes you feel better or happier when you are sad or disappointed”.
That is the main purpose of Solacism, to bring comfort and happiness; that is, to bring solace to the world, both through attitudes and actions and through art, in every possible form and manifestation; provoking and arousing only pleasant feelings, thoughts and sensations.
The present situation demands that all means are used in order to bring peace and happiness to our world. This measure is paramount today, like never before, for the welfare of our planet, for our own sake and for the benefit of all living creatures alike.
Throughout history, most artists have used art in a passive way, usually restricting it to a mere expression of inner impressions, opinions, ideas, thoughts and feelings, without any awareness or interest of the influence caused by their creations; completely unaware of their power.
Now the time has come to assume an active role and take advantage of this power, using art to build a new (better) reality for everyone.
May art be a reflection of this new reality, of love, peace and happiness, by becoming the mirror upon which the world will mould itself, and where it will gaze joyfully at this splendid truth.
Fundamental tendencies
“One day tenderness will move the world.”
This is the day when, in order to guarantee the survival of every living creature in this planet, love, peace and tenderness must become our one and only flag and our uttermost vow.
We must raise this flag and share this vow, to bring happiness to the Earth and its inhabitants; for this world is our home, and all the living beings that share this wonderful dwelling with us are our brothers and sisters, our real family; and the only way we can grant our own happiness and joy is by granting these same rights to them.
Let’s improve ourselves; may our virtues grow and multiply. Let’s become our own heroes; let’s forge our own character, molding it in the light of our highest ideals. May our souls be clear and pure; may our hearts be filled with love, kindness and compassion; and may our minds be tranquil and peaceful, so that only joy and altruism may inhabit our spirits and guide our words and actions.
Let’s dare to dream our wildest dreams, and may these dreams bring only benefit and prosperity to all.
Precursors
Every time beauty, love and harmony are present in artistic creation, the seed of solacism is pulsating.
A powerful aesthetic quality characterizes several works of art of all ages. In the sweet melodies of classical music, in Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and in Monet’s colorful gardens, the germen of solacism vigorously sings its glorious hymn.
It can be found in the incurable romanticism of Petrarca’s sonnets and in Shakespeare’s verses, in Ballesteros’s legends and in Becker’s poetry.
Most recently, in Japan
André Rieu and his orchestra, with their ecstatic performances, overflowing enchantment and magic, that fascinate gigantic audiences, are a clear manifestation of this need, this urge, this profound desire that enlivens the human heart.
Principles
Words, sounds and images must clearly portray the wonders we wish to admire and feel.

May it make life sweeter, may it adorn it and beautify it, therefore materializing, through this exercise of expressing the creations of the imagination, our idealizations, building with solid bricks this beloved Utopia.
May we always find extreme delight and pleasure both in creating and admiring it. Let the creative process be fun and absolutely enjoyable, turning existence into an endless party.
Sincerity and honesty must characterize this art, and pour its truth into our spirits until it overflows our hearts and minds. May truthfulness guide our actions always, to our own satisfaction and success.
Creation will turn into meditation, as we maintain our focus on positiveness and beauty, thus transforming the very essence of our souls.
This new art is to be guided exclusively by love. It must have only peaceful and harmonious intentions.
It will defend human rights; and it will be inclusive and accessible to everyone, destroying all discrimination, preconception and limitation.
It should be as ecologic as possible, to protect our planet and ourselves. Through reducing, reusing and recycling, the most charming creations will blossom; by transforming “waste” into treasures, and by using natural resources wisely and carefully, the greatest works of art the world could ever dream of will emerge.
Inspiration will come from the deepest of our hearts: our most precious and elevated aspirations, the most amazing hopes and dreams, our greatest desires and wishes…

Mixing languages can be of great assistance to print a global aura to narrative and poetry, reminding us that, beyond our apparent differences, we’re one big family.
Artistic languages can also be mixed, as another way of building bridges across cultures.
Create visualizations and guided imagery (which can be used for healing, as it is experienced in guided metabolism, and to stimulate spontaneous remission). Using the present tense and writing in first person is very effective for such practices.
In the same form, affirmations (to enhance health, wellbeing, joy, intelligence, self-esteem, peacefulness, relaxation, tranquility, compassion, etc.), also using the present tense and written in first person, have tremendous power.

All and any should be used: painting, scrapbooking, literature (both poetry and narrative), music, photography, computer arts (digital painting, drawing, photo editing, digital collage, etc.), cinema, doodling, jewelry making, fabricating objects, making handcrafts, drama, dancing, and any other form of expression you desire.
